Document signed by William Bridgeman, c.1646-1699, English civil servant and Secretary to the Admiralty between 1694 and 1698.

Enclosure: Copy of a letter to Lord Berkeley, Commander in Chief of HM Fleet, regarding the poor quality of Slops as supplied and drawing attention to the selling of same aboard ships. Essentially, Captains are to inspect the Slops as they are received on board, to put a price on them, and to sell them at the awarded price. Sales of Slops are to be recorded on ships books showing the clothes to have been sold at those prices.
