Document signed by Josiah Burchett (c.1666-1746), Secretary to the Admiralty (1694-1742)
Captain Munden has written concerning the great want of provisions for ships at the Nore and I am sending you the enclosed extract of his letter. Captain Kenney of the SWAN at Biddeford advises that neither he, nor the THUNDERBOLT at Milford, have victuals enough to go to Bristol, and I am also enclosing an extract of his letter. The MAIDSTONE at Shoreham has no stores and the FAVERSHAM but 2 days. You are directed to order the Commissioners of the Victualling to have them supplied. Their Lordships have asked how you propose to employ the SYAM hospital ship which went to Plymouth with stores. The Captain of the SMIRNA MERCHANT in the Downes has but 2 days victuals.
