In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
You are directed to have two of the ships here mentioned (HUNTER, VULCAN, St PAUL, CRESCENT, ETNA and ST VINCENT) as are in the best condition and can soonest be fitted for a foreign voyage, fitted with all possible dispatch and supplied with 8 months stores and provisions. You are to let us know the names of the two ships chosen. You are also to have the LYON, MONK, GUERNSEY and LYME, furnished with 8 months stores and provisions for a foreign voyage. You are also to have the MARY galley and DUNWICH which have sailed for the Downes, to be furnished there with stores as soon as possible if they have not done this at Plymouth. The provisions for the PORTLAND and SEAHORSE for 8 months are also to be completed there.
