Document signed by George St. Loe, 1697.
The credit of the Victualling Office is so bad here that the agent himself has to stand security to get victuals for the ships here. This cannot continue much longer and several ships have not above a day or two's victuals on board. I thought it my duty to advise their Lordships that measures may be taken for the service.
