In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
Putting a stop to the trial of an engine used for weighing anchor claimed to have been invented by Captain Charles Ormerod and placed aboard the HAMPSHIRE. A Petition has been received from others claiming that their engine - the Sea Crab - is the same as that put aboard the HAMPSHIRE and that they hold the patent. The Navy Board is to appoint a suitably qualified person to investigate and report.
