The Treasury Commissioners direct you to make a Bill following the method of your Office for paying the sum of four hundred and forty two pounds fifteen shillings to Sir Cloudesley Shovell or his Agent to discharge so much due to the inhabitants of Maidstone for Quartering the Companies of Captain Lee and the late Lord Berkeley in the second Marine Regiment. At the same time the said Bill should be assigned for payment out of the like sum put unto the hands of the Treasurer of the Navy by Tallys levied on the fifth payment of the two millions subscribed for the East India trade, which will be due this present month of January 1699.
