In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board

On the 31st December we directed you to cause three of the six Clerks that belonged to the Members of your Board who are employed in the Registry Office, and were discharged, to be re-entered again for the better carrying on of the business of that Office, the Charge of which Clerks it is intended shall be defrayed out of the income thereof, but observing in the late accounts you sent us of retrenchments that have been made in the Navy, they said three Clerks are mentioned therein as a Charge on the Navy. We direct you to give orders that their Salaries be paid from the time of their last entry on the business of the Registry Office, out of the income of that Office.
