Document signed by Josiah Burchett (c.1666-1746), Secretary to the Admiralty (1694-1742)

Mr Ford has informed the Admiralty Commissioners that he can give an account of the selling of some of the King's Provisions from the TERRIBLE at Plymouth, and that the Carpenter and his mate have been a considerable time at work on shore for private persons. You are directed to make an enquiry into this matter and inform your opinion, and also that you give an order that Mr Ford is not deprived of his Wages during the time he is making this discovery and returning to his Duty. You are to give him what you think necessary for his journey to Plymouth and subsidising him there.
