In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
In your letter of the 21st inst; to our Secretary you have proposed the MONTAGUE, COLCHESTER and ROMNEY as fitting to be Guard Ships in the River Medway. The three Ships now employed in this service will be suddenly paid off, and we direct you to supervise the rigging, fitting and equipping of these Ships, so that they may be ready to enter service when the others are paid off. You are to let us know when you send money down for paying off the said Ships, and what further Orders may be necessary.
