In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board

You are directed to order the Commissioners of the Victualing to send 3 months provisions to the Mediterranean for the ships there with all dispatch. This is to be at whole allowance for their middle complement of men for the ships: IPSWICH, BOYN, DEFIANCE, COVENTRY, DOVER, EXETER, MEDWAY, KINGSTON, ADVENTURE, BETTY, EXPERIMENT, POOLE, SEAFORD, SEAHORSE, VULCAN FIRES, CANTERBURY storeship, STARR bomb and SALAMANDER bomb. You are to direct them to hire merchant ships by the month at the easiest rates that may be, to carry provisions to Cadiz and from there to the squadron, according to the directions they receive from the Admiral and Commander-in-Chief. As soon as they have delivered the provisions they are to be discharged from the service and you are to send to the Straits a proper agent to take care of the victualing of the ships there.
