Document signed by Josiah Burchett (c.1666-1746), Secretary to the Admiralty (1694-1742)
Your letter of 17 February and also that of the Commissioners of the Victualing about a hoy that has been at Deptford since December last with provisions for the HAMPSHIRE, has been seen by their Lordships. Their Lordships direct me to tell you that it cannot have been unknown to you that the ship has been hindered from going down river with Captain Ormerod's engine for weighing anchors on board her. Their Lordships have ordered that Captain Leake is to go down to the Hope in case the hoy with the provisions is still where she was, and to take the provisions on board so that the hoy is no longer on His Majesty's charge.
