In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
Captain Wentworth Paxton, late Commander of the NEWPORT, has submitted a Petition requesting clearance for Bills and cash expended in fitting out his ship while in New England. Due to the ship being taken however, he has been unable to submit supporting paperwork; but due to the precedent set in 1695 when Captain Taylor was cleared in similar circumstances, Paxton is also to be cleared and discharged.
