In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
No date recorded: The Petition of Thomas Harvey, late and now agent to the Commissioners for Victualling in which he relates that he was appointed by Sir George Rooke at Cadiz as agent in 1696 at a salary of £200 per annum to cover both himself and his Clerk and that this was inadequate due to the very high cost of food and drink in Spain. He also refers to a period of service in early 1678 where he advanced money and obtained credit for supplying Provisions for Hulks, Artificers and other users. He requests reimbursement for past expenditures and for his present posting to the Straits.
