In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
Copy of an extract of a letter from Commissioner St. Loe at Plymouth in which he states that although Mr Waters has been standing by ready to commence repairs to stonework at his own expense he has received no direct Orders; and that this in turn is dependent on the completion of the new Dock gates. As regards to the defects with other gates, he opines that the cost of these repairs should be born by the Navy, including repairs to houses, except that these repairs also fall within Waters remit. Where defective walls are concerned he opines that these may have to be pulled down and that the true extent of the repairs required can only be guessed at. He suggests that as Waters is currently in London he should be interviewed.
