In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
The opinion of Dockyard Officers at Portsmouth in which reference is made to faulty work carried out by Mr Fitch, and that with the exception of other work carried out in addition to the work ordered in August 1698 no further works are required to make the upper wet dock serviceable again. A number of recommendations are made for further improvements however, including a graving or dry dock and that defective work carried out by Contractors should be replaced. Signed by various Dockyard Officers.
