In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board

The results of a survey undertaken by Sir Cloudesley Shovell, Thomas Willshaw and Dockyard Officers pursuant of the condition of the Docks and Buildings at Portsmouth pursuant to an Order dated 22nd February 1698, in which reference is made to defective workmanship in a wall, repairs required to pier-head gates, the relaying of an apron, defective stonework, brickwork to the Lower Wet Dock. They refer also to stonework in the building of the new Dry Dock as having been carried out satisfactorily. All works referred to in this report have been performed by Mr Fitch under Contract.
