In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
You are directed to have the HAMPSHIRE and JERSEY to be sheathed, the former at Sheerness and the latter at Portsmouth. You are also to turn over the commissioned officers and the company of the DIAMOND into the SWEEPSTAKES at Deptford, and those of the DEFIANCE into the HOPE instead of the ANNE. You are also to prepare and present to us an estimate for building a ship of about 250 tons, all in Esprucia Plank, to serve as a fireship. John Herbert and John Orquart servants to John Charters and William Kendall , were impressed out of the CHANDOS, bound to the East Indies, and are now on board their Majesties ship ELIZABETH. The East India Company having advanced £3 to Herbert and £4 to Orquart, whose masters entered into a bond of £200 for their performing the voyage, you are directed that the sum of £3 be stopped from the wages of John Herbert and £4 from the wages of John Orquart and paid to the East India Company, taking care that the bond entered into by Charters and Kendall for their servants is annulled. The FUBBS yacht is to be refitted at Deptford and supplied with stores and provisions for service in the Mediterranean. The CONCORD a ship hired to serve as a hospital ship is to be discharged and her owners paid what is due to them according to contract.
