In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
The Commissioners of the Victualling in their letter of today (a copy enclosed) advise us that they are in arrears of £97,000 of their weekly money, on which score they have strained their credit, not only in London but all victualling ports. They are not able to provide provisions for the fleet and if they are not supplied with such a sum their Majesties service may suffer greatly. You are directed to solicit the Lords of the Treasury with all possible speed.
