Document signed by Phineas Bowles, Secretary to the Admiralty [1689-1690], 1647-1714.

Enclosing an Order from the Admiralty to send as many Men as the Navy Board shall judge appropriate from the PENDENNIS to be put aboard the DUKE and BURFORD in the Downs. The Men had been at the Admiralty and were to have been sent to Portsmouth; but after demanding convey money and a ship to transport their gear, the Commissioners concluded that it would be more advantageous to the Service to send the Men to the Downs.
