In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
In August 1698 there was impressed to Mr John Fowler the sum of five hundred pounds, out of which by order of the then Board of Admiralty there was advanced to Mr Burchett, our Secretary, the sum of four hundred pounds to be made good to His Majesty out of his Salary. On application to His Majesty his pleasure has been signified to us that the said sum of four hundred pounds shall be allowed as his Royal Bounty to Mr Burchett without accounting for the same.
We direct you to give such Orders as may effectually clear and discharge not only Mr Burchett but Mr Fowler also of the sum of four hundred pounds.
