Document signed by Josiah Burchett (c.1666-1746), Secretary to the Admiralty (1694-1742)
My letter of the 30th June signified directions to you to order the Victualling Commissioners to send in a Merchant Ship to Virginia some Bread which the SOUTHAMPTON could not stow. Having received a letter from the Commander of her at Spithead informing that he was then under sail, and that there was neither Butter or Cheese at Portsmouth fitting for this voyage, and desiring that that the same may be sent after him along with the Bread, you are directed to give orders accordingly to the Victuallers.
