Document signed by Josiah Burchett (c.1666-1746), Secretary to the Admiralty (1694-1742)
The Admiralty Commissioners have granted a Warrant to Mr Pavey, late of the LYME, to be Purser of the EXETER, where he is much wanted, she being ordered to revictual forthwith to proceed to Sea. He has informed us that he is in readiness to go to the Ship, having given in his Security and sent down his things, so there is nothing but Mr Coleby's examining his Accounts which the Purser says may be done in four or five hours. You are directed to cause his Accounts to be immediately dispatched so that he may proceed to the EXETER.
