Document signed by Josiah Burchett (c.1666-1746), Secretary to the Admiralty (1694-1742)

The Admiralty Commissioners having perused the Report from the Surveyor of the Navy, and Mr Lee and Mr Allen, by which it appears that the Carpenter of the RYE has not been faulty with respect to the damage done to the Powder on board her, by reason of her leakiness, they direct that you do not stop any part of his Wages on that account, and that you acquaint the Principal Officer of the Ordnance with the fact, so that they be satisfied there is no reason to make such defalcation.
