Diary beginning AMPHION October 13th, 1805, to May 5th 1814.
William Hoste's diary begins with his appoinment as Captain of HMS AMPHION, superceding Captain Sutton. The diary takes the form of very brief notes of the dates and locations of certain events. The first 9 leaves (up to the end of 1808) have become detached from their binding. Each subsequent year is bound into a small volume, except 1812-1814 which are bound together.
