Barlow gives details of the preparations for and the early stages of the Four Days Battle.
Barlow gives details of preparations by the fleet for the Four Days Battle. The MONKE stays with the main fleet, Prince Rupert having taken a smaller fleet to look out for French ships. The first engagement with the Dutch does not go well as the wind prevents the English ships from firing their lower tiers of guns. Three ships of the White squadron are captured and the MONKE loses her fore topmast.
