The Four Days Battle ends with the English in retreat and the ROYAL PRINCE burnt. The MONKE returns for repairs and Barlow gets treatment for his wound in Rochester.
On the third day of battle the ROYAL PRINCE gets stuck on a sandbank and is captured and burnt. Prince Rupert's ships join the fleet but the fourth day of battle ends with the English in retreat, although the Dutch ships do not pursue them. The MONKE returns to Chatham for repairs and Barlow goes ashore at Rochester for treatment of his wounded leg.
