Join us for an immersive sound experience under Cutty Sark on Burns Night!

Described as "The best musical experience I've ever had" and "The panacea that the world needs right now", in the dark is a 60-minute sound experience performed live, entirely in the dark - for both the audience and the musicians - in stunning and unexpected spaces.

Following 40 sold-out shows pre-Covid, in the dark returns to London in 2025 and is coming to Cutty Sark for one night only. No phones, no theatrics, no acrobatics. Instead it dares differently by taking a number of our senses away for an hour, leaving just our ears to own the show.

Come with us into the dark for the best concert you'll never quite see.

How does it work?

The music and the performers are secret. There will be no programme to flick through as you arrive, instead you'll be provided with the details of what you've just heard as you leave. The aim is for your ears to own this. Some of the music you may recognise, much you won't.

Sometimes the sound may seem in front of you, sometimes around you. The performers won't be distant on the stage, they'll be nearby - you may sense them, but they won't come into your personal space and you'll be safely seated throughout.

And as for the darkness, as well as the performance spaces being totally dark once the performance begins, we provide every ticket holder with a sleep mask at the beginning of the show to wear and then take away at the end.

One of the stand-out experiences of my life"

A profoundly moving, beautiful experience"

Accessibility at Cutty Sark events

For safety reasons, wheelchair access spaces for Cutty Sark are limited to three visitors per event. Cutty Sark is wheelchair accessible with lifts providing access to all levels of the ship. Some areas of the Main Deck are not wheelchair accessible, but virtual access is provided to these spaces.

The original ship structure restricts the size of the lift on board, but mobility scooters can be accommodated on board providing they fit in our lifts. Measurements for the lifts are included in the Cutty Sark access statement. No e-scooters or e-bikes are permitted on board as per our visitor regulations.

Companion tickets are available for any guest who would be unable to visit independently, please select this alongside a paid ticket.

If you are a wheelchair user or have any other queries regarding accessibility at this event, please contact bookings@rmg.co.uk prior to purchasing your ticket.

Please note that on this particular night due to essential maintenance, we will not have direct lift access to the Dry Berth. However, there will be an alternative route if lift use is required.
