They travel on rivers and canals to Amsterdam, where Barlow and his shipmates lodge at the 'Buter Tunn'. They receive eight months' pay at ten gilders a month. Barlow arranges to return to England on board a pleasure boat belonging to Colonel Stroude, Governor of Dover, which takes him to Harwich.
