The KENT sails to Karwar, Goa, Mumbai and Swallow Hole. Barlow describes how the BRISTOL sank , and criticises Sir Josiah Child, Governor of the East India Company.

The KENT stays for a month at Karwar, where cow meat is not available because they are considered sacred. They call at Goa, where Barlow describes the local produce, including rack which they buy. They sail to Mumbai and then Swallow Hole, where they hear news of King Charles II's death. Barlow describes how the BRISTOL sank. He criticises Sir Josiah Child, Governor of the East India Company.
