Document signed by James Southerne, Secretary to the Admiralty, fl. 1690-1694.
The contents of your letters of the 17th and 18th inst; concerning the supply of cables to the CONSTANT WARWICK have well satisfied the Admiralty Commissioners, as also the Victuals placed on the Merchant Ship DIAMOND which the SAMUEL& HENRY and SCEPTRE could not carry.
They also approve of the directions given to Captain Greenhill for preserving for HM's service the 60 Men that lately belonged to the hired Ship SUPPLY, lately cast away near Hoylake.
Concerning the Caulkers desired for Chatham I hope Council will give orders on Thursday next for these to be sent down to Chatham.
You will receive a Warrant for pressing Riggers as desired by Mr Gregory.
Concerning the timely supply of Money for the Navy, this has been laid before HM and the Treasury Lords, and this week a considerable sum of Money will be furnished for the present exigencies of the Navy, and a constant weekly sum for the future.
