Document signed by James Southerne, Secretary to the Admiralty, fl. 1690-1694.
Mr John Addis, the Storekeeper and Muster Master at Plymouth, has stated that he is not able to perform the business of this place effectively with the two Clerks at present allowed him, and asks therefore for a third.
The Commissioners ask that you let them know whether the business Mr Addis has on his hands renders it necessary that he should be allowed a third Clerk, and if so, what would be the proper Salary for him.
