In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board

You have informed us that after a Survey of the SOPHIA FIRST she was found unfit for further service at Sea, but that she may be very useful at Portsmouth if converted into a Hoy, for receiving on board Guns of their Majesties' Ships, and for the transportation of Timber.
We direct therefore you to cause her to be forthwith converted into a Hoy and employed as you proposed.
