In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
There have been several complaints that the Slop Clothes furnished to their Majesties' Ships are not of such quality as is fitting for the warm clothing of the Seamen, which has in a great measure occasioned the late sickness in the Fleet.
We direct you forthwith to consider the present Establishment of Clothes to be sent on board their Majesties' Ships, and what alterations in the sorts of Clothes mentioned should be made for better preserving the health of Seamen, reporting your opinion to us as soon as may be.
