In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
You have lately represented to this Board the necessity of speedily making a new Roadway from the Country to Sheerness for the convenience of the Navy and the Garrison. Mr Mynall, the Owner of the Level there, is obliged by reason of the damage the Sea has done to the Old Bank to alter the Seawall which will take off the present Roadway. The Ordnance Officers propose making a new Roadway to Sheerness through the Marshes, for which Mr Mynall is willing to give ground, for two miles in length. The cost is computed at £724, the Charge to be borne half by the Navy and the other half by the Ordnance. The King has approved the making of the Roadway and we direct you to cause half the Charge of the Roadway to be borne by the Navy, and present to us an Estimate in order to obtain the Money.
