In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
Captain Monck of the PHEONIX has said that his ship needs girdling. The Admiralty wishes to know if the work can be done while the ship remains in dock at Portsmouth awaiting the next Spring Tides and if so it is to be carried out with all possible speed. But if it cannot be done in time she is not to be fitted with girdling in order not to delay her return to service.
