In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
Countermanding a previous Order to fit the SMYRNA MERCHANT Hired merchant ship for a voyage to the West Indies, she is now required to be supplied with four month's Victuals for service in the Channel. Two large Fly Boats are to be hired and converted for receiving pressed Men at the Nore ready for next January with updates on progress. The MILFORD and PORTSMOUTH at Plymouth are said to be in want of Slop clothes for the use of Prisoner of War seamen returning from France. The Admiralty wishes to know why there is a shortage. Instructions are given for quantities of Slop clothes to be sent to Plymouth and Portsmouth for the use of HM ships.
