In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
You have represented by your letter of the 3rd inst; to our Secretary that the Smiths Shop in the Portsmouth Yard cannot contain so many Fires as the Service requires, and that the Works many times call for Iron works from thence faster than it can possibly be supplied, and therefore you think it convenient to have another Shop added, seventy feet long and twenty eight feet wide, to contain three forges and two cranes.
We direct you to cause the work to be taken in hand and performed according to the Estimate sent to us of the Charge, amounting to two hundred and thirty five pounds, taking care that this is not exceeded.
