In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
We understand by your letter of this day's date that one of the two Sloops at Dover which we directed you to hire to attend the Fleet, namely the OBSERVATOR of about 50 tons, belongs to the Commissioner of Customs, and they are about to sell her. In case the Sloop cannot be hired on moderate terms you are to purchase her at the lowest possible price and fit her for the aforesaid service.
