In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
We direct you to cause the present complement of Men allowed to the CHARLES, JAMES and MARY GALLEYS to be reduced, the CHARLES to 180, the JAMES to 160 and the MARY to 160 when she returns from her present voyage to the Canaries. The Men discharged from the CHARLES are to go onto the Hospital Ship at the Buoy of the Nore, to be disposed of as this Board or the Flag Officer in the River Medway shall direct.
As for the JAMES, you are to cause all the Men belonging to her above the number of 130 to be forthwith turned over to the Expedition, the Flag Officer having directions from this Board to take care that in turning over these Men such a number of Men are left on board her so that she is not disabled for Sea service.
