In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
Your letter of 2 March set out the difficulties in repairing the PRINCE in the double dock at Chatham. You are directed to have her put in the dock as soon as the BRITANNIA is launched. We think it fitting that the ROYAL JAMES shall be named the VICTORY. The new 4th Rate to be launched this week at Deptford is to be named CENTURION and the new 5th Rate at Sheerness is to be the SHEERNESS. You are to have these ships to be borne in the Navy by these names.
