In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
The certificate under the hands of the late Captain of the [SOVEREIGN] and Captain Warren, late Commander of the HOPEWELL fireship, states that John Sinclair, Master of the fireship, was after the accidental burning of her in the Downes last summer, ordered on board the DEPTFORD and was killed in an engagement with the French. Upon consideration we direct that the allowance for Widows and Children of John Sinclair under their Majesties Royal Bounty be paid for his loss.
