In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
Your letter of 3 March mentioned that workmen at the several yards will have no work in a little time unless some employment is found for them. You propose the setting up of one of the new 3rd rate ships, appointed by Act of Parliament, at each of the yards at Chatham, Portsmouth and Deptford, and one of the 4th Rates at Sheerness. You are directed to act accordingly and to have such materials now in store provided for other services, made use of in building the new ships. Such stores to be charged on the account of the new ships and made good out of the money provided for them by the Act of Parliament for building the 27 new ships.
