In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
You are directed to have built at Chatham, two galleys each with 40 oars, for towing ships to and from that yard and the Blackstakes. The two vessels to be of 80 ft in length, midships breadth to be 16 ft and the bank for the oars to project 2ft 6ins. Your estimate dated 10 March estimated the charge of each vessel to be £220. You are to have the ROYAL CHARLES now at Portsmouth to be fitted as soon as may be and brought to Chatham and to give your opinion at which of the yards you judge it will be most convenient that she be repaired. You are also to have a number of water ships found to carry water for their Majesties' fleet for this year's service.
