In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
We have named the four new fireships which are not yet launched as follows: built by Mr Castle at Deptford the PHAETON; built by Mr Frame at Hull the ETNA; built by Mr Taylor at Cuckold's Point, Rotherhithe the VESUVIUS and LIGHTNING. You are directed to have these borne in the Navy with these names accordingly. The new ketch building by Mr Snelgrove is to be named the HIND.
