Document signed by James Southerne, Secretary to the Admiralty, fl. 1690-1694.

In answer to your letter of 17 March about the convoy for Mr Butler's vessels with timber and plank out of Sussex, I am to inform you that the GREYHOUND has had orders to convoy them. In his letter of 17 March, from the Downs, the Captain advises that he has brought away all the laden vessels at Shoreham, Pevensey, Rye and the places adjacent and I hope the Butler vessels are among them. If you understand they are not, please inform me and I will ask their Lordships for orders to be sent to him.
