In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
John Pigott, late Carpenter of the KENT, by reason of age and infirmity is no longer capable of employment. We have thought fit to discharge him and it appears from your report of 3 March that he has served as Carpenter of several ships above 20 years. This is greater than the time necessary for Officers Superannuated in the Service of their Majesties' Navy. You are directed to settle a pension on him during his natural life, equal to the wages and allowances to Carpenters of a ship of the 3rd Rate. This to commence from the time of his discharge and you are to sign bills quarterly for paying this pension.
