In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
William Ledger, late Carpenter of the DUNKIRK, by reason of age and infirmity is incapable of further employment. We have thought fit to discharge him and it appears from your report of 4 February that he has served more than 24 years, which is more than the time for such officers to be superannuated by the establishment made by His Majesty in Council dated 11 December 1690. You are directed to settle a pension on him during his natural life, equal to the wages and allowances for Carpenters of 3rd Rate ships to commence from the time of his discharge from the DUNKIRK. You are to sign bills quarterly on the Treasurer of the Navy for this.
