In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
Thomas Wiggins, late Carpenter of the SANDWICH, by reason of age and infirmity is incapable of further employment. We have thought fit to discharge him and it appears from your report of 4 February that he has served upwards of 16 years, which is more than the time for such officers to be superannuated by the establishment of His Majesty in Council dated 11 December 1690. You are directed to settle a pension on him during his natural life, equal to the wages and allowances of Carpenters of 2nd Rate ships, to commence from the time he was discharged from the SANDWICH. You are to sign bills on the Treasurer of the Navy for this.
