Document signed by William Lowndes, 1652-1724, Secretary to the Treasury (from 1695) under King William III and Queen Anne.

The Treasury has been informed that some presents prepared last Summer for the Governments of Algiers and Tripoli (being 4 bales and a black box) are still on board HMS Berwick who was to have delivered them to Sir George Rooke, but the opportunity was missed and she is now in St Hellens. Their Lordships direct you to instruct the Portsmouth Officers to take the Bales and Box into their custody until further orders.
