Letterbook containing copies of official letters received and sent, dated between 16 June 1805 and 25 November 1805. In this period Dobbie was in command of the receiving ship and sheer hulk HMS ARROGANT (1761) and senior captain at Bombay Harbour. For a short period he was acting captain of the frigate HMS FOX (1780). The volume includes correspondence with Rear-Admiral Sir Edward Pellew, Commander-in-Chief in the East Indies; Francis Warden, Secretary to Government in Bombay; Jonathan Duncan, President and Governor in Council at Bombay, and Captain William W. Story of the American ship CONNECTICUT.
